#28) Trip to Krabi, Thailand (20.1.12 - 24.1.12)

For this trip, we managed to spend not more than RM600/person, a sum which is inclusive of our Hotel, Return Ticket, Transportation, Island Tour/Hopping package, Jungle Trekking via elephant ride-Emerald Pool-Tiger Cave Temple package (seriously forgotten the exact tour package name).

And by 'we', i meant me, Cik Ya and Cik Mee.

I personally regard this trip as a diversion to what i am going through at that point of time in my life.

Well, we started off our journey in Puduraya, taking our night bus to Sungai Petani. A friend of Cik Ya comes and pick us up and later drop us at behind Malaysian border, Sadao, Thailand. Yuhuu... it's Thailand mann!! SAWADEEKAAA... :)

Cik Mee with her bagpack

From Sadao, we took mini van (or maybe mini bus?? ergh, just stick with mini van for easier understanding i guess.. LOL) to Hadnyai.

From Hadnyai, we took another long journey straight to Ao Nang also vide a mini van. 4-5hours journey.. well guys, if you want to travel overland, don't complain on the loooongg journey ok.. (exception for the first timer like me.. boley?)

And because this is my first time doing overland, i forgot to jote down every details of the journey.. huhu :( sedih!

So, let the pictures tells u all ... enjoy!!

Another ride vide "tuktuk" to reach Ao Nang.. fuhh...
travelling buddy : Cik Mee and Cik Ya
Finally we found a shelter... yeayy!! City Orange Mansion. 1,200Bath/first night and 1,100Bath for subsequent night (plus an extra bed).. yup, expensive, but given its a Chinese New Year Holidays and the owner is very welcoming and helpful (moreover a Muslim's stay), we don't bother to bargain more. ( or maybe just too tired to ask for a better deal).

I did'nt know much about other bagpackers, but us being a cheapskate, prefer to bring our own kitchen and groceries. Hell yeah, it saves a lot of money from dining outside! We have a luxurious dinner, lunch, breakfast and even tea time! All with "home-sweet-home" seal!

Enough said, morning comes early in Thailand. We have book the Island Tour/Hopping (Barracudas Tour) package (booked through our host) for 1000Bath/pax. Gathered in Railey Beach, we have visited a few island and snorkeling spot. What i can tell you that their landscape is beautifully crafted by God. Subhanallah...

I think here in Krabi, i love their landscape and their Maya Island was beautiful! The only setback in Maya Island is the smell of its toilet....haiyaa people, if you want to do your business, please..i mean PLEASEEE do it and clean it properly!!
fishes are nice here.. but corals is so-so

feeding the fish - just before i say bye bye to the camera... :(

see, told ya, its damn beautiful!

We came back from the tour much later in the evenning. Curious about the night activities here in Ao Nang, we walk almost 2-3km to reach the city. Nothing much, but you can get spa and massage treatment for quite a cheap price here. And you MUST try their pancakes! It come in various flavour such as banana chocolate, peanut, etc etc. Superb!!
Tomoi anyone??

night in Ao Nang
Sun rises. Night before, we have bought Jungle Trekking via elephant ride-Emerald Pool-Tiger Cave Temple package for 1100Bath/pax. This also is a one day trip.

bathing with elephant

scary moment when the elephant started to kiss u.. erk!
Actually, i didnt really like what i see the way they handle/train the elephants. they are using sharp tool to discipline the elephant and the elephant that performing in front of us is just a baby! Now i feel guilty to pay to see something like this. so cruel!
i feel bad for the elephants
Then, we proceed to Tiger Cave Temple. I seriously thought that we could see real live tiger. But no tiger around. No, i dont feel upset, i feel relieve instead. So no more abusive training for the endanger species. Fuhh..
Entrance to Tiger Cave Temple
The main tourist attraction in the temple complex is the 1,272 step climb up a limestone tower to see the "footprint of the Buddha".
The Stairs: Source
And of course, i did climb it all and took less than half an hour. But the climb itself might take longer depending on your stamina and if you have fear for monkeys (like me), just beware!! they are everywhere..

So, at the summit, you can see the whole view of Krabi Island and of course the Buddha itself.

Then, we were brought to the Hot Spring. Unfortunately, by this time i already got migraine so i couldn't enjoy it so much.
To Hot Springs
Our lunch is inclusive in the package. Awesome lunch i would say. Apart from the three of us, there are like 5-6 other europeans in the group. Maybe Thai's food does not suit their apetite, we have to finish the rest of the food on their behalf..oops, did i say "have to"..hahahaa!!

Catch for the Day
Once we finish our food, we proceed to Emerald Pool. yup, the water is emerald colour..literally! We have to walk about 15 minutes to reach the pool. But, i dont have the picture of the pool, since cik ya has taken like forever to pass to me all the pictures taken. :p
Emerald Pool

Too clear??

When we got back to our hotel, all drained up. We sleep early that night. Tomorrow, another long journey.. huhu..

The journey from Ao Nang to Hadnyai wasn't pleasant at all. enough said. or maybe i'm just missing my home sweet home. :(

*p/s: i'm proud to be malaysian. i am.
